And after entering into a boat, He crossed over and came to His own town.

And behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Have courage, child; your sins are forgiven."

And behold, some of the scribes said among themselves, "This man blasphemes."

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?"

"For which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?"

"But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" (then He said to the paralytic) "Get up, pick up your mat, and go to your house."

And he got up and went to his house.

And when the crowds saw this, they marveled and gave glory to God, who had given such authority to men.

As Jesus was passing on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and He said to him, "Follow Me." And he got up and followed Him.

And as Jesus reclined at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and His disciples.

And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

But when Jesus heard it, He said, "Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do."

"But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not offerings.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?"

And Jesus said to them, "Can the sons of the bridechamber [close companions of the groom] mourn while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast."

"No one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results."

"Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."

While He was saying these things to them, behold, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him, saying, "My daughter has just now died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live."

And Jesus got up and followed him, along with His disciples.

And behold, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the edge of His garment.

For she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will be healed."

But Jesus turned and saw her, and He said, "Have courage, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed from that hour.

And when Jesus came into the synagogue leader's house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,

He said, "Go away, for the girl is not dead, but asleep." And they laughed at Him.

But when the crowd had been put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

And the news of this spread throughout that entire region.

And as Jesus was passing on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out loudly, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"

And when He had entered the house, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you have faith that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."

Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith, let it be done for you."

And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."

But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout that whole region.

And as they were going out, behold, a mute man who was demon-possessed was brought to Him.

And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds were amazed and said, "Never has anything like this been seen in Israel."

But the Pharisees were saying, "He casts out demons by the ruler of demons."

And Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and caring for every disease and every sickness.

And seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were exhausted and cast aside, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few."

"Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
